White Microsilica Zr-102

Key Specifications

Zr-102 Microsilica (2700°C Process)

Product Features:Designed for high-temperature applications, with zirconium enhancing wear, erosion, and thermal shock resistance in unshaped refractories.

Product Introduction

Zirconia-containing silica microspheres for refractory castables represent a functional, ultra-fine active mineral material specifically developed for high-performance refractory systems. By incorporating stable zirconia (ZrO₂) into high-purity silica microspheres, this product significantly enhances the erosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, and structural density of refractory castables under high-temperature conditions.

In steel smelting, cement kilns, electric furnace systems, and non-ferrous metal industries, zirconia-containing silica micropowder for refractory castables has become a critical additive for improving high-temperature structural stability and extending furnace lining service life.

Technical Principle

Under high-temperature conditions (>1400°C), conventional silica fume tends to experience strength degradation due to phase structure changes. In contrast, zirconia-containing silica fume used in refractory castables can:

  • promote the formation of a stable mullite structure

  • Form a high-temperature stable zirconia phase to reinforce the framework

  • reduce open porosity

  • Enhance resistance to slag erosion

  • Improve thermal shock cycle stability

According to ASTM International refractory testing standards, material density and microstructure directly influence erosion resistance.

Applications & Performance

Applications

》Steel Industry: Ladle channel refractory castables, molten iron ladle refractory castables, KR stirrer heads, blast furnace hearth refractory castables, blast furnace ceramic cups, etc.
》Cement Industry: Kiln mouth refractory castables, pulverized coal injection pipe refractory castables, etc.

Performance Advantages

1. Microcrack Toughening Mechanism: Highly dispersed zirconium components can partially counteract sintering shrinkage.
2. Enhanced Hardness: Structural upgrades combining ZrO₂ hardness and wear resistance
3. Resistance to slag erosion: Zirconium-based materials exhibit good chemical inertness toward both acidic and alkaline molten slags.
4. High melting point: Alkaline metals such as K and Na have extremely low melting points, enhancing the material's load-bearing softening temperature.
