Product Details
Zirconia-Containing Microsilica
High-purity, off-white silica fume with a combined SiO₂ and ZrO₂ content of at least 98%, developed for advanced refractory castables and specialty high-temperature material systems.
Product Overview
The product is particularly suitable for formulations in which raw-material purity, water demand, particle packing, rheological stability, and high-temperature phase development require close control.
Zr-108 is not simply a higher numerical grade. It is designed for demanding refractory systems in which the consistency and overall composition of the ultrafine powder matter as much as its nominal SiO₂ content.
Product Advantages
The combined SiO₂ and ZrO₂ content exceeds 98%, while Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, CaO, MgO, and alkali content remain at controlled levels.
Consistent particle characteristics and controlled powder condition support more predictable dispersion, initial flow, and flow retention.
Ultrafine particles fill small voids between aggregates, reactive alumina, calcium aluminate cement, and other matrix powders.
Zr-108 introduces both silica-based and zirconia-containing fine components into the formulation.

Performance Comparison
Based on existing formulation tests, this section shows reference performance improvement from the micro-filling effect and pozzolanic reaction of silica fume. Actual results vary with matrix type, mix design, dosage, dispersion and process conditions, so sample testing is recommended.
Silica Fume Applications
Suitable for low-cement castables based on white fused alumina, tabular alumina, reactive alumina, and calcium aluminate cement.
Can be evaluated in ultra-low-cement systems that require low impurity input, reduced water demand, and a dense matrix.
Suitable for development work involving cement-free or microsilica-bonded refractory systems.
The product can be used in self-flowing formulations that require stable dispersion and controlled rheology.
Suitable for refractory precast components with bends, narrow sections, corners, openings, or other geometries that require good matrix flow and uniform filling.
The final grade and dosage should reflect the specific balance of flowability, oxidation resistance, slag resistance, thermal-shock stability, and dry-out safety required in each zone.
Quality Control
Packaging and Logistics
Suitable for small batches, experiments, and sporadic use.
Suitable for engineering projects and industrial use, and designed for both container loading and transshipment.
Match pallets, labels, inner liners, and export documentation according to project requirements.
FAQ
Answers to common purchasing questions about packaging, export documents, sample trials, loading and delivery.
Zr-108 is a high-purity silica fume containing zirconia-based components. It has a combined SiO₂ and ZrO₂ content of at least 98% and is designed primarily for advanced refractory castables and specialty high-temperature formulations. It is also identified by the model name ZSF-108.
No. Zr-108 is a silica fume product containing ZrO₂ and zirconia–silica components. It is not pure zirconia powder and should not be treated as a direct replacement for stabilized zirconia, zircon flour, or other high-zirconia raw materials.
It means that the combined content of silicon dioxide and zirconium dioxide is at least 98%. It does not mean that the individual SiO₂ content or ZrO₂ content alone exceeds 98%. The higher combined content indicates a lower proportion of other non-target components in the product.
The main differences lie in: combined SiO₂ and ZrO₂ content; impurity-control level; zirconia content; intended formulation requirements; positioning for high-purity refractory systems. Conventional 92%–96% grades often provide a practical balance between performance and cost for general refractory castables. Zr-108 is intended for formulations that require tighter impurity control, greater batch consistency, and more specialized high-temperature matrix design.
A one-to-one replacement without testing is not recommended. Zr-108 may differ from standard silica fume in: chemical composition; ZrO₂ content; pH; particle-size distribution; surface characteristics; agglomeration state; dispersant response. These differences may affect water demand, flow, flow retention, setting behaviour, drying, and high-temperature phase formation. Customers should begin with laboratory trials and adjust the dispersant, water addition, and dosage as necessary.
There is no universal dosage that applies to every refractory formulation. The appropriate addition level depends on: aggregate type; reactive alumina content; cement content; SiC and carbon content; binder system; dispersant chemistry; target flow; firing temperature; service conditions. We recommend testing several dosage levels around the customer’s existing silica fume addition and comparing fresh-state, dried, fired, and corrosion-related performance.
